CAS Criminal Judiciary

Pascal Favrod-Coune primarily practises in the areas of commercial law, corporate law, banking and finance law, contract law, white-collar crime, as well as new technologies law.

He advises companies and entrepreneurs on the structuring, development and regulatory compliance of their activities. In a constantly evolving economic environment, Pascal Favrod-Coune approaches law and regulation as strategic tools to anticipate risks, structure business activities and support the development of business models. His practice notably includes the implementation of legal and contractual structures (mergers and acquisitions, business transfers, shareholder relationships), financing transactions, complex commercial transactions, as well as corporate governance matters. He also assists clients in projects involving innovative technologies, in particular in the fields of digitalisation, blockchain and artificial intelligence. In this context, he further advises on data protection, contract drafting and negotiation, as well as intellectual property, assisting clients in the management, protection and valorisation of their intangible assets.

Pascal Favrod-Coune also represents clients before judicial and administrative authorities in civil, criminal and administrative proceedings, particularly in commercial, economic and financial matters. Having served for several years as an investigating magistrate within the Military Justice system, he has solid experience in criminal investigations.

After completing his studies at the Universities of Lausanne and Montreal (summa cum laude, Prize from Commune d’Écublens for the highest Master’s average), Pascal Favrod-Coune obtained a Ph.D. in law from the University of Lausanne (summa cum laude, Professor Walther Hug Prize and Charles-Philippe Mercier Prize), focusing on crowdfunding. He also holds an LL.M. from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and a Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in criminal judiciary.

As an Associate Professor at the University of Lausanne, Mr. Favrod-Coune teaches business and corporate law as well as the interplay between finance, law and digitalisation. He is also co-director of the Master’s programme in Law and Economics jointly organised by HEC Lausanne and the Law School. He further teaches Fintech within the LL.M. in International Business Law at the University of Lausanne, as well as artificial intelligence cybersecurity within the CAS in Law and AI at the University of Neuchâtel. For his teaching activities, he received the Best Teacher Award from HEC Lausanne in 2023 and 2025. He is the author of numerous publications in leading legal journals and regularly speaks at conferences in Switzerland and abroad in his fields of expertise.
