Gaétan Girard advises, assists and represents the firm’s clients before the Swiss judicial and administrative authorities, mainly in the fields of public and private construction law, spatial planning law, general administrative law, real estate law and contract law.
Gaétan Girard studied at the University of Fribourg, where he earned a bilingual (French/German) Bachelor’s degree in law (summa cum laude) in 2018, with a focus on European law. He then graduated with a bilingual (French/German) Master’s degree in law (summa cum laude) of the University of Fribourg in 2020, also with a focus on European law. As part of his Master’s studies, Gaétan Girard spent a semester studying at the Center for Transnational Legal Studies (CTLS) in London and another semester at the law faculty of the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) in Munich.
Before completing his legal traineeship in a law firm in Lausanne, Gaétan Girard worked as a trainee clerk at the Tribunal d’arrondissement de la Broye in Estavayer-le-Lac, Canton Fribourg, and at the Federal Administrative Court in St. Gallen, where he gained experience in the fields of contract law and administrative law in particular.
Gaétan Girard successfully passed his bar examination in November 2023. Since then, he has been writing a doctoral thesis at the University of Fribourg on the subject of ‘Fundamental rights to universal services’ under the supervision of Prof. Jacques Dubey. In parallel with his research work, Gaétan Girard first worked as a scientific assistant at the EPFL Law Chair for Prof. Isabelle Romy and Prof. Jacques Dubey before joining CBWM Avocats as an associate in January 2025.
